Deep In It
They
just keep coming!

I've
been killing squirrels for a little over a year now..... I put up with
them chewing on my garage, but when they started on my house, I
declared jihad on them (may the fleas of a thousand camels infest their
armpits). So far, I've recovered 82 bodies. I do not count the ones that
I can't find.
They have
attempted to steal my tractor, break into my house, bomb me, and even
shoot me (some are terrorists). Oh, yes, one even disguised himself as
Santa as an attempt to gain entrance to my home.
I
am including several pictures of these activities that I was able to capture
digitally.
I'd like
to propose a public campaign, with the help of the Coca-Cola company,
although I doubt they would approve. We'd call it the "Have a Coke
and a squirrel", sorta like the "Have a Coke and a smile"
campaign of years gone by. We could even change that ditty "I'd like
to teach the world to shoot, with pinpoint accuracy, we'd kill the squirrels,
all over the world, and from those pests be free...." I think that
song was "It's the real thing" or something like that.
I
started with a 12-gauge Mossberg Model 500 ("Baby Sister" is
the gun's name) and experimented with different shells until the kill
ratio was as high as possible. For me, the ultimate shell was #4 turkey
loads. They
kicked like a mule, but 98% of the time the gunwent off, a squirrel would
free fall. I killed at over 200 measured feet with that combination.
I
experimented with a Ruger 10/22 rifle ("Grandma"), but there
were a lot of shots I couldn't make safely. Later, I got a pellet
rifle - the silent killer. On two separate days, I doubled the previous
daily kill record of 3. I get many more shots, because the gun is almost
silent. I use a Gamo Shadow 1000 (1000 feet per second) with a 12X 44mm
scope (as yet unnamed). It's sighted in at 47 yards, and I pick the squirrels
off. I don't recommend the rifle for technical reasons - there are better
guns out there, but the kill record has been impressive nonetheless. It
is a good tool, but requires a lot of adjustment.
I
don't search out squirrels, I kill the ones I see snooping around my house.
I killed 5 form my kitchen window one day (after having killed
over 50 others!). They keep coming from the swamp in waves, and I keep
killing them..... It's a grisly business, but it must be done.
Thanks,
Steve
